I finished

I finished the book a week ago and I am a lazy slacker who is only writing this now out of boredom and because Sarah threatened me. i enjoyed the book. Like Sarah said it is very different from the movie but I think that allowed me to enjoy it more. I normally have a hard time reading a book after seeing the movie because you know what is going to happen. The only thing I found in common with the movie is the list doesn't really change but a lot of what happens does. I love the family in the book, they each help Holly in their own way. The end started to get boring i had to make myself keep reading it. I did miss the huge fight that is in the movie I wish something like that were in the book. It helped to see what their relationship was like. The book only says that they loved each other very much which is fine but it helps to see how they were together. Anyways thats my opinion without giving away the story.

Not so sure

The whole reason I picked P.S. I Love You is because I love the movie. Apparently, I've made the colossal mistake of thinking a movie would be anything like the book. I am only a few chapters into the book but there are already huge difference from the movie.
The movie starts off with Holly and Gerry having a fight during which I immediately connected with Holly. In the movie, Holly's dad abandons them when she's14. During the fight Holly accuses Gerry of wanting to leave her, when they make up he tells her "You can't keep eatin' me head off, tellin' me to leave...I'm not goin' anywhere. I'm not your dad...don't you know that yet?" I love this becuase I can just imagine having arguments like this with the man I marry. Well, in the book Holly's parents are still married! My connection to Holly is completely thrown out the window.
Like I said I just started the book so hopefully I will come to appreciate it but I'm not sure b/c Holly's dad not being in the picture plays a huge role in the movie and in me loving the movie. We shall see.
Anyway, Jen and I are talking about renting P.S. I Love You while she and Frances are in town so maybe we can all get together and watch it.

What happens in London

I had the good fortune to win a pre-release e-book from author, Julia Quinn. Her newest story is about Lady Olivia and Sir Henry. It's a sequel to The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever. It's not really a sequel just has some of the same characters. I received the link for the e-book Sunday morning and I sat in front of my computer ALL DAY and finished the book by Sunday night. It was absolutely delightful. There were times when I laughed out loud. It's not what I call a "deep" book. There is not some major antagonist, yes things happen but it's not so cloak and dagger through out the book. And it's not one of those books where the main characters hate each other for most of it and never admit their love until the last page, I hate those books. This is a light hearted fun book!

P.S. I Love You (all of you girlies)

Hi homies! I bought our next book of the month. Has anyone else? I'm excited to start reading something new, as my life since November has been consumed with nothing but vampire novels/fanfiction. I'm not sure I remember what reading anything else is like. I am not going to start reading yet because I am a loser and still have a few chapters of Honest Illusions to finish up. For some reason I was having a hard time really enjoying the book this time around. That is...until Monday. I started reading at work and I was at the part where Luke comes back and asks Sam for time with his family and I was completely captivated again. That is my favorite part of the book - when Luke wins Roxy back and plans his revenge. I love Luke's connection with Nate. He is so tender with him. Anywho, somebody get on this blog and post besides Sarah and I!!

Talk to you soon, lovelies.

Okay I know this has nothing to do with our book club. I'm mostly just posting this for Frances because the link was too long to twitter. Enjoy, I know I did!

To anyone still reading this blog

Jess (WTO) and I have claimed June and July. For June we will be reading P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern (chosen by me). For July we will be reading Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes (chosen by WTO). So this summer we will be traveling to New York, Ireland and Italy. It's up to Jen and Jessie (VFM) to decide where we will be traveling in August and September.
I've got a feeling Jen's going to send us to the highlands . . .
